Enduring Principles
Our enduring principles guide us in our mission and community life. They include:Our Enduring Principles capture the very spirit of our faith community—they reflect its essence, heartbeat, and soul. These guiding values reveal the unique character of our church as it comes to life across cultures and continents.
- God’s grace—revealed most fully in Jesus Christ—is boundless, unconditional, and generous beyond measure.
- In receiving that divine generosity, we respond by living generously and gratefully welcoming the gifts others offer.
- We dedicate everything we are and have to serve God’s purposes made known through Christ.
- From the depths of our true capacity, we share our testimonies, resources, ministries, and sacred sacraments with abundant love and grace.
- In the beginning, God brought forth creation and declared it good.
- The spiritual and the physical—visible and invisible—exist in sacred harmony.
- The creative and destructive forces within creation reveal our human vulnerability.
- God continues to shape and renew creation in alignment with divine purpose.
- We are called to partner with God as caretakers of creation, nurturing it with hope and compassion.
- Scripture is a sacred, Spirit-inspired record of humanity’s encounter with the divine—a vital witness to God’s revealed nature.
- Just as in ages past, God continues to reveal divine will with grace and purpose.
- The Holy Spirit enlightens our understanding and bears faithful witness to eternal truths.
- With humility—both individually and in sacred community—we seek God’s guidance through prayer, listening for wisdom to shape our lives, our church, and all of creation.
- God sees every person as possessing immeasurable and equal worth.
- God desires that all people know wholeness—in body, mind, spirit, and relationships.
- We commit to honoring and restoring human dignity, both individually and communally, by confronting unjust systems that deny it.
- Together with Jesus Christ, we proclaim good news to those who are poor, ill, bound, or oppressed.
- God, in abundant grace, entrusts people with gifts and opportunities to do good and participate in divine purpose.
- Jesus Christ calls us to discipleship—inviting us to walk in his ways and share in his ministry.
- Some are set apart and ordained to serve through priesthood, offering ministry on behalf of congregations, communities, and the world.
- Guided by the Holy Spirit, we respond with faithful hearts to our best understanding of God’s calling.
- God empowers humanity with the freedom to choose whom and what they will serve. Yet, we recognize that some face circumstances that limit or complicate that freedom.
- The choices we make shape our lives and the world—bringing forth either good or contributing to harm.
- Because of careless and sinful choices, parts of creation cry out for healing and renewal.
- In every moment, we are invited to make wise and faithful decisions that reflect God’s purposes and restore hope.
- God desires shalom for all creation—justice, reconciliation, wholeness, peace, and well-being woven together.
- Jesus Christ embodies this divine shalom, revealing its meaning in every dimension of life.
- The hope of Zion calls us to promote God’s reign on earth by cultivating communities grounded in peace and justice.
- With courage and compassion, we freely share the peace of Christ with the world around us.
- Guided by the Holy Spirit, we partner with God and others to heal creation and restore shalom.
- We rejoice in God's peace wherever it takes root or is lovingly pursued by people of goodwill.
- Community of Christ is a global, diverse family of disciples, seekers, and congregations drawn together by faith.
- Our mission is strengthened by the vital relationship between local ministries and the worldwide church.
- We celebrate both our diversity and our unity through the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.
- In moments of discernment, we seek common consent. When agreement cannot be reached, we remain committed to loving dialogue and to our shared faith in Jesus Christ.
- We humbly acknowledge that unresolved differences can be painful for some of God’s beloved children and creation.
- The gospel of Jesus Christ comes alive most fully in community—where hearts open to God’s grace and to one another in sacred vulnerability.
- Authentic community is marked by compassion and solidarity with the poor, the marginalized, and the oppressed.
- True community affirms the worth of every person and offers a healing alternative to self-centeredness, isolation, and cultural conformity.
- Holy community nurtures and cultivates growth in all people—especially those who are unable to care for themselves.
- We cherish the bonds we share and embrace a profound trust and sense of belonging, even with those we’ve yet to meet.
- Some disciples are called and ordained to serve through priesthood—ministering on behalf of congregations, communities, and the wider world.
- We are commissioned to build communities of Christ’s peace—in our homes, churches, and throughout villages, cultures, and nations.
Christ's Mission, Our Mission
The early followers of Christ carried forward His mission by boldly proclaiming the Living Christ, welcoming all into community, honoring the inherent value of every individual, responding to needs with generosity and compassion, and striving for justice and peace for all. Today, we are called to rekindle that same vision and fervor for Christ’s complete mission—expressed through five transformative Mission Initiatives.
Our Mission Initiatives

redeeming gospel to those yearning for hope.

cherished, and to grow spiritually. Here, you’ll uncover a purpose
that transforms lives and strengthens communities.
We

children of God. We provide a safe and sacred space where
relationships deepen, spirits renew, and justice begins to
flourish. Through compassionate, Christ-centered service, we seek
to end suffering and cultivate peace.

We are called to restore Christ’s promise of peace—teaching and
practicing nonviolent conflict resolution to help foster a world
where every person and every nation can experience the blessing
of peace. We stand ready to live Christ’s covenant of peace, the very Zion
our hearts hope for. That hope comes alive when we embody Christ’s
peace and share it generously with others.

- Establishing the Temple as a global center for peacemaking
- Engaging children as young peacemakers across cultures and nations
- Seeking justice and raising up creators of peace in every land
- Uniting with diverse communities to build peace across the globe
We are called to be true and living witnesses of the life,
ministry, and enduring presence of Jesus Christ in the
world.
